“I bought a horse” was the text message that Dr May sent his mother while she was on vacation in the Dominican Republic during his Junior year of high school. The next surprise came six months later when his first foal, Koda, was born. Now with more horses than he would like to admit Dr May has been raising barrel horses for nearly 10 years. From Saskatchewan, Canada to south Texas, Koda has been with him for every moment of his career including being the first recipient mare he used for embryo transfer. Dr May earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. Following graduation he completed an internship at Weatherford Equine Medical Center in Weatherford, Texas. Dr May has spent the last four years practicing in North Texas focusing on reproduction. Dr May has a strong interest in reproduction including embryo transfer, problem mares, and older mares. He credits much of his success to many great clients who have trusted him with their mares and given him the opportunity to gain extensive experience. As someone who raises horses, he understands the time and financial commitments, rewards, and challenges that come with breeding horses. He eagerly awaits the opportunity to serve the San Antonio area and lead our team as Managing Veterinarian through an extensive clinic renovation to ensure the highest level of patient care.
